Seclore - Delivering Automated, Best-In-Class Data Centric Protection

CIO Vendor Today’s organizations regularly outsource business operations to specialized vendors. Yet, although the practice has become commonplace and the benefits are widely recognized, security remains a major concern for companies in the majority of industries.

Sharing sensitive information with external vendors – via email or any data sharing platform – is a vulnerability that is frequently exploited by cyber criminals. Additionally, data which is usually accessed by downloading files from key enterprise applications such as ERP or ECM, can easily be misused if left unprotected within the organization or outside the network perimeter. Robust data integrity, both inside and outside of Public Sector Enterprises and Government institutions, including third party affiliates and vendor organisations, is the key to ensuring security and long term benefits for all stakeholders.

Seclore, the Mumbai-born security software company now headquartered in Sunnyvale California, has created completely automated, best-in-class ‘data- centric’ security software that plugs such security gaps. Chief Information and Security Officers (CISOs) now have the option of protecting 64 different types of files, using their existing DLP, ECM and SAP systems. The solution protects files irrespective of how they travel – whether by email, USB, cloud-based file synch and share services like Box, Drop¬Box, Citrix Sharefile or VDRs and CASBs.

According to Seclore Founder and CEO Vishal Gupta, the granular usage controls and advanced capabilities ensure that files are secure at all times; not only while they are in transit, but also while they are being worked on and wherever they are stored, even when that is beyond the perimeter of organization. “The team at Seclore partners closely with customers, combining deep industry expertise and uniquely open and scalable persistent data-centric technology to seamlessly extend security, wherever a file goes,” says Gupta, “One can even control which devices a file can be accessed from.
That means you can limit access to files to a few authorized IP addresses. CISOs feel the most beneficial feature is that control of files remains permanently in the hands of the creator and that privileges can be revoked remotely whenever the need arises,” he adds.

Seclore recently added a number of usability innovations to its Enterprise Rights Management Solution. For example, the skyrocketing number of enterprise Mac users will now enjoy the same level of data-centric security as their Windows counterparts. Expanding on Seclore’s identity federation, users can now login automatically through their Google account, making access to protect¬ed documents even faster.

Another pioneering feature is “Bring Your Own Key,” which enables organisations to use key management systems. Organizations can now align Seclore’s key exchange mechanism with their overall cryptographic key management and security strategy. The BYOK capability provides enterprises with unprecedented flexibility in managing their security while still retaining complete control over their own data and encryption.

The company is strategically focusing on underserved segments with high growth potential, such as BFSI, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. In the Government and Intelligence (G&I) vertical, it is working to protect KYC documents, tax and land records, transaction files and court documents so that they can be only be accessed and utilized by authorized users. Seclore strongly believes in playing an active role in market education and has been an acknowledged thought leader since the firm’s inception in 2009.
